End: Feb 21 2010 - 00:00
A five day festival of opera, classics and song featuring Wellington-born tenor Banjamin Fifita Makisi, Auckland-born baritone Stewart Cameron, Melbourne-born lyric soprano Jennifer Parish, Adelaide-born dramatic soprano Sally Harrison, Queensland's Lynne Sterling Jordan ( piano ), internationally renowned concert pianists Max Olding & Pamela Page and the Queensland Pops Orchestra Trio.
For five years, OPERATIF! headlined, organised and produced a major Festival of Opera & Song along with piano and string trio recitals in the unique setting of Norfolk Island. This was known as ‘Opera in the Ruins’. OPERATIF! is delighted to now launch a new and improved festival for 2010 and beyond, to be known as ‘OPERA in Paradise’. Each year associate artists are engaged to present programs of popular appeal and great entertainment value. Complete one week opera, flight and accommodation packages from Australia or New Zealand starting from around US $ 1000.
Make the short 1 - 2 hour trip from Australia or New Zealand to attend a truly unique Opera and Music festival on a remote island in the South Pacific. The week’s world-class entertainment includes Gala opera concerts, matinees, champagne afternoon concerts and a traditional Island feast ( with local entertainment and Festival samplers ) as part of the Festival launch.
Choose from two different Opera packages available from your travel agent as part of your other travel arrangements. A range of different concerts and events take place in various locations during the week with ample time left for attendees to explore the historic beauty of the Island. Seats are always limited on flights to Norfolk and many people missed out on getting a flight in 2009.
