THE NEW ZEALAND OPERA SOCIETY

Elric Hooper is directing students of Dame Malvina Major and vocal students at the University of Canterbury in Anthony Ritchie's opera "The God Boy".

 Cast List includes Andrew Grenon in the title role, Sarah-Ann Walker as Mrs Sullivan, Peter Hind as Mr Sullivan, Genevieve Jenson as Molly, Rebecca Fergus as Sister Angela, and Rachelle Pike in dual roles.

The opera will be performed over 3 nights (16th-18th August) at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre (University of Canterbury in the USCA building), as a fully staged production, and promises to be thrilling both for those involved and the Audience. The story itself is highly thought provoking and has many emotional elements that when combined with the music make it a captivating experience.

 Being able to attend an opera written by a Kiwi Composer, and based around a New Zealand family set during the depression, is all too rare an opportunity to miss.
