Thank you for visiting opera.net.nz, the online home of the New Zealand Opera Society and the New Zealand Opera News.

Once you've had a look around, I'd like you to consider registering. Once you've registered (having chosen your username, entered your email address, and been sent your password) you will be able to:

• make announcements;
• add events to our events listing;
• post in our forums;
• comment on other people's posts;
• and vote in our online polls.

At the top right-hand side of every page you will see a place to enter your login details. Below that is a link: Create new account. Click on this link and enter your desired username and your email address. A password will be emailed to you immediately, enabling you to log on. If you have any trouble then just drop me an email and I'll see what I can do to help.

Once you are comfortable with logging on, voting and commenting on other people's posts, then perhaps you might like to consider posting in the forums? We're always looking for people who want to review a performance, discuss an event in the operatic world, or simply "get something off their chest". We'd like all the contributors we can get!

I am interested in finding out from you how easy, or difficult, you find the site to use. What do you like? What is confusing? Any feedback would be much appreciated! With your help I will be able to compile a list of frequently asked questions for those new to online communities like opera.net.nz (or, as they say in Internet-speak, a FAQ for "newbies").

Finally, a note about your personal details. Once you are registered we will have your email address on file, but we will not sharing this information with any third party.
